报告人简介: HEAD OF DEPARTMENT OF AGRICULTURAL SCIENCES; ASSOCIATE PROFESSOR IN ANIMAL PHYSIOLOGY Faculty of Agriculture and Life Sciences Department of Agricultural Sciences Lincoln University EXPERTISE Mammalian, including human, physiology. Neuroendocrinology, especially neuroendocrinology of reproduction. Livestock animal welfare and physiology of pain and stress. RESEARCH Mammalian (sheep, deer) reproduction, endocrinology, neurodegeneration (Batten disease), biology of Antarctic seals (Weddell seals), deer lactation and antler biology, plant diuretics. Education background AssociateProfessorBarrell has a Bachelor of Science degree, a post-graduate Diploma of Science and a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in Veterinary Physiology - all from Massey University. He was a lecturer in animal physiology at Massey University until he completed his PhD degree and has been a member of the academic staff at Lincoln University since 1976. Awards and Honours Associate Professor Graham Barrell is Head of Department of Agricultural Sciences at Lincoln University (about 55 staff). He is the University Co-ordinator for Animal Welfare and is Chair of the Research Committee of the Faculty of Agriculture and Life Sciences. He is a member of the New Zealand Society of Animal Production (served time as President), New Zealand Society of Endocrinology (served time as President), Physiological Society of New Zealand, Deer Branch of the New Zealand Veterinary Association, Royal Society of New Zealand (Canterbury Branch). He received the ‘Living Legend’ Award from the New Zealand Society of Animal Production in 2016. Publications He has published 117 refereed papers in scientific journals. |
